PROFESSIONAL DIPLOMA PROGRAMME IN OCCUPATIONAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH PRACTICE (OEHP) - ADMISSION 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

General Admission Requirements​

  • Applicants shall hold a Bachelor degree in the following areas:

  • (i)              Healthcare or Health-related care discipline (e.g. medicine, nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy); or

  • (ii)            Sciences (e.g. Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, Environmental sciences, etc.); or

  • (iii)          All equivalent awarded by a local university, or an overseas university of acceptable standing

  • Proficiency in Cantonese is preferable.

English Language Proficiency Requirements

  • Obtained a degree from a university in which English is the medium of instruction of degree programmes; or

  • Achieved minimum scores in the following English Language tests/examinations as indicated:

    • TOEFL*: 550 (Paper-based) / 213 (Computer-based) / 80 (Internet-based); or

    • IELTS*: an overall band of 6.0 with no subtests lower than 5.5; or

    • HKALE Use of English: Grade E; or

    • HKDSE Examination English Language: Level 3; or

  • Equivalent qualifications.

*TOEFL and IELTS are considered valid for two years from the test date.

HOW TO APPLY

Please submit the application form and supporting documents (in pdf format) through online platform. An application fee of HK$300 (non-refundable and non-transferable) in a crossed cheque or bank draft should be sent to our mailing address. Applications will be processed only upon receipt of the completed application form, copies of supporting documents and application fee before 17 JUNE 2022 (FRI).

  • A photocopy of Hong Kong Identity Card

  • Copies of certificates in support of academic / professional achievements, such as

    • university graduation certificate(s)

    • result slip(s) of examination(s)

    • proof of other qualification(s)

  • Copies of academic transcripts, such as

    • university transcript(s) and grading schemes

    • postgraduate transcript(s) and grading schemes

  • A personal statement in 200-500 words

  • Documentary proof for exemption application (if applicable), such as

    • transcript and course outline

SELECTION PROCESS

Interview may be arranged. Applicants will be notified of the application result by e-mail when the Programme concerned has made its decision. TUITION FEE

Applicants who are accepted will be required to pay the full tuition fee of HK$72,720 (non-refundable and non-transferable) in a crossed cheque or bank draft within 10 working days upon receipt of notification. We will not guarantee the seats if the successful applicants fail to complete the payment before deadline.

PAYMENT METHOD

Crossed cheque or bank draft should be made payable to: “The Chinese University of Hong Kong” and sent to our mailing address. Post-dated cheque will not be accepted. Please write the applicant's name, HKID card no. and programme title on the back of each cheque/bank draft. Please note that the application fees and tuition fees, once paid, are non-refundable or non-transferable.

COURSE AND UNIT EXEMPTION

The students who completed the following programmes / courses may apply for course and unit exemption from Course 1: Elementary Occupational and Environmental Health of the current programme:

  • The Occupational Health Practice short course organized by CUHK;

  • Certificate Course in Occupational Health Practice organized by CUHK; or

  • Undergraduate courses PHPC3016 Environment and Health and PHPC3017 Work and Health organized by CUHK

Remarks

  • For a course to be exempted, the student should have obtained a grade not lower than B-;

  • The course can be considered for exemption with a validity period of up to 6 years after graduation;

  • The final approval of the exemption application is subject to the School’s decision. The School may decide not to exempt the student from a course in view of the actual situation. E.g. If there have been major changes in the course content, a student may not be granted exemption, even if the above criteria are met;

  • Course exempted will not be counted during GPA calculations and will appear on transcript only as the total number of units recognized as equivalent. Tuition fee will be adjusted on a pro-rata basis.

The programme reserves the right to cancel the course if the number of registered students is insufficient or for other unanticipated reasons, as well as to make alterations regarding instructors, class schedules, class locations and the course contents if necessary.
