PROGRAMME HIGHLIGHT

  • Graduates of this programme are accepted as associate members of Hong Kong Institute of Occupational and Environmental Hygiene (HKIOEH) and gain half year professional working experience towards the application of the registered professional hygienist (RPH) examination.

  • Taught by registered professional hygienists and other experienced experts in the practical work related to occupational safety and hygiene

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Upon the completion of this programme, graduates will have acquired the ability to:

  • gain knowledge and skills of occupational and environmental health, safety and hygiene in workplace;

  • identify, evaluate and control occupational and environmental health hazards with basic instruments;

  • manage workplace safety and health risks in the way that satisfies the Occupational Safety and Health Ordinance;

  • apply theory and principles of occupational and environmental hygiene in policy design and management.

TARGET STUDENTS

The training programme is intended for health and safety personnel in both industrial sectors (e.g. construction and manufacturing) as well as in non-industrial sectors (e.g. healthcare and education) in the advancement of their knowledge on occupational and environmental health and hygiene practice.  It also links the occupational and environmental health study together.

RECOGNITION

REMARKS

Postgraduate Diploma in Occupational Hygiene was phased out in 2010. CUHK decides to re-launch the current programme and retitle it as Professional Diploma Programme, which is at the same level with enhanced content of the previous Postgraduate Diploma Programme, including an additional introduction to environmental health and emerging issues on occupational and environmental health.
