ABOUT OUR PROFESSIONAL DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES

In 1985, Department of Community and Family Medicine of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) started three diploma programmes, which were Diploma in Occupational MedicineDiploma in Occupational Health Practice, and Diploma in Occupational Hygiene. They were upgraded to Postgraduate Diploma programmes under Graduate School of CUHK since 2004. The programmes were phased out in 2010.

In recent years, the importance of occupational and environmental health is being increasingly recognised by the public in Hong Kong. Concerns about the prevention of workplace hazards as well as the protection and promotion of workers’ health and welfare have been raised across different industries. 

In view of increasing demand for more updated knowledge and skills from local health and safety professionals, The Jockey Club School of Public Health and Primary Care (JCSPHPC) of CUHK re-launches three similar programmes which are tailored for medical doctors, nurses, and other health and safety professionals respectively. The current programmes highlight the equal importance of both occupational health and environmental health emphasized nowadays. Theory and practice-based training will be provided to students. They satisfy local professionals' needs to seek advanced, intensive and updated training in occupational safety and health.
